Recently, I hit a boulder I was unable to see in a muddy river on the gravel surface of Alida Road, Loumarina and the damage to my Mercedes amounted to R35 000, including R5 000 excess. I have sent many queries and requests for compensation to the Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM), with no success.

We have been living with this gravel road for 38 years and besides dealing with potholes and no street lights, when it is not raining the gravel road is used as an oval track during weekends.

How long before the municipality will act? Does someone have to die first?

I try and phone the municipality on the switchboard number 011 411 5000 with no reply. Does it even exist?

Also, low cost houses have been built next to the main road to Westonaria and Carletonville but, it’s standing empty yet they pave the roads and put up street lights, day and night? Even the sight to the watertank and new area for housing also has lights and paved roads.

Who is the King of our Zoo?

How long are we going to be dominated by the inefficient municipality?
