The Municipality’s message to the Class of 2017 …

Best wishes for your future endeavors.

• Caroline Setsiba of the RWCLM, education activist and former SGB executive member writes:

It is really befitting to congratulate the Class of 2017 for the great achievement of making it through their matric.

It look a lot of commitment and sacrifices. As an education activist, academic and former School Governing Body (SGB) [member], it is appropriate to also thank the educators and all stakeholders that took the initiative to see these future stars through. It took courage for them firstly to boldly sit for their entire examination but also to emerge victorious.

As it is said: “It takes a whole village to raise a child”.

To all matrics who made it: “Kudos, you made us proud”. It is important to also note and appreciate the different skills and strengths each individual possesses.

Those who did not achieve their matric or performed average in 2017 should look into their strengths and not lose hope. Go out there and make another attempt or venture into fields of your passion.

Learning is part of progression in life. Take courage and do not be shaken as fortune favours the brave. So learn from your experience and retain the essence of the experience. Tap on available support and do not shy away.

I’m appealing to all organisations and sectors in our community to unite in supporting education. Our NPO partnership of Evesai and 3BR and other stakeholders are available to provide support to both learners who passed and those who did not achieve.

Those who did not achieve and want to explore other avenues in education, can contact us on 062 408 9775 by phoning or WhatsApp.

Best wishes for your future endeavours.
