Traffic cops need more manpower

It is also our responsibility to stay within the laws when travelling on the roads. Let's make Randfontein an accident-free zone.

Let me start by applauding the Rand West City Local Municipality traffic officers for their dedicated efforts in monitoring and combating the road fatalities within our vicinity on a regular basis.

I am not an expert but just a driver and road user, therefore my observations can be proven otherwise. I want to reiterate on the basis of accidents which took place within two days on the R28 road from Randfontein [close] to Uncle Harry’s intersection.

One Wednesday in January on the R28 at a four-way stop a mini bus taxi collided with a truck causing it to overturn.

Two days later, on the same road, this time next to a primary school, another car was involved in an accident. On the same morning, two other vehicles collided in T-bone fashion.

These were but some of the accidents I can remember, there might be more. I therefore urge motorists, even pedestrians, to please be patient on the road.

I also wish to ask municipal officials to consider employing more traffic police personnel. More officers will increase visibility and hopefully curb road fatalities.

It is also our responsibility to stay within the laws when travelling on the roads. Let’s make Randfontein an accident-free zone.

I thank you.
