Big drought, please save water – SPCA

We still have to continue caring for the animals in our care adequately, which includes the washing of kennel facilities.

The National Council of SPCAs has been informed that certain municipalities are threatening residents with prosecution if water restrictions are not adhered to and if every effort is not made to save water.

The country is facing a severe drought and heatwave at the moment and we ask Societies to please use water sparingly and be mindful of the fact that there is a water shortage.

We further recommend that Societies (or regions) approach their local municipalities in order to come to an agreement about water usage, especially if there are water restrictions in your area. We still have to continue caring for the animals in our care adequately, which includes the washing of kennel facilities. Using high pressure systems also assists with the saving of water.

We also ask Societies to please be proactive during this period, especially with animals being affected by the water shortages.

Thanking you.
