I live in a complex in Westonaria.
On Wednesday, 12 October, I found a broken prepaid water meter at a neighbour’s house. Gate locked, water spraying all over.
I and another neighbour tried to call the council but there was no answer, except for the automated voice recording. At last I called Randfontein and they assisted me in reporting the matter.
I received the number of the relevant person for the water problem from our Body Corporate and called a certain man.
He told me that they [the municipal workers] are all on strike. Needless to say, on 17 October, someone came to look and I informed them the residents would only be there late in the afternoon.
We all know the water situation in our country today. Well, OK, today is 18 October. Let’s hope they will fix the problem as water is still spouting out everywhere from this meter, 1 000s of litres later.
