My thoughts after the election not lovely

Rather enjoy the lovely coming of summer.

Thoughts after the election.

I got up early one morning, and standing on the veranda gladly experienced the approach of summer. Is it not lovely?

The temperature is rising, the smell is in the air, some plants and trees are showing signs of life and our animal friends are going on. Involuntary one thought for a moment about the election.

The municipal election 2016 in Randfontein and all over the country has come and gone. Do we expect sudden wonders now, a kind of Shangrila (old timers will recall the beautiful film The Legend of Shangrila), heaven on earth or promised land? Somehow I do think one must rather adopt a simple and pragmatic approach.

Rather enjoy the lovely coming of summer. Many promises are made to be broken or never to be fulfilled. Some will get onto the table and be worked on – but as we all know, the wheels will grind slowly.

Let us rather live positively, create our own green patches and enjoy freedom, health and more blessings. What is the use of worrying? Cometh the hour, cometh the man? Woman?

On this lighter note – the famous Afrikaans writer C J Langenhoven long ago lost his cool in the South African Parliament and shouted “Most of you are donkeys”. Unlike nowadays, he was made to retract his statement. CJ got up and simply said “Most of you are not donkeys”. I am not suggesting that we have donkey leaders. Think what you want.

And neatly – just before election an important piece of road in Helikon Park was re-tarred properly!
