Council disregards ratepayers’ efforts

Council must stop taking decisions at the expense of ratepayers without proper consultation and communication.

Greetings again.

When will Randfontein Local Municipality take us as ratepayers serious?

It is with disgust once again to learn of another bad decision taken by the council at the expense of the rate payers of Randfontein without proper consultation.

How long do we have to suffer because of these immature decisions as a result of incompetent people in crucial positions in credit control? There is a new process to recoup arrears from consumers on an 80 per cent to 20 per cent basis without proper consultation or informing the ratepayers.

Some of the consumers only saw it on notice boards in council offices when they went to pay rent.

Where and when was this decision taken and who gave council permission or authority to take 80 per cent for arrears and 20 per cent for electricity when a consumer buys R100 electricity?

Council must start to appreciate and respect the efforts ratepayers make with payments. With the state of the economy consumers try their utmost and go through a lot just to get hold of whatever they can to make payments on their arrears.

Council must stop taking decisions at the expense of ratepayers without proper consultation and communication.

Concerned rate payer.
