SPCA cries for help correction

Phillips does not own the SPCA nor does she financially carry these facilities by herself.

The Herald reported on 3 July (page 5 in the community section) in an article titled ‘The SPCA cries for help’ that Lucy Phillips owns the SPCA.

Phillips does not own the SPCA nor does she financially carry these facilities by herself. She is purely a voluntary helper.

The Randfontein and Westonaria SPCA’s are charitable organizations that fall under the umbrella of the National Council of SPCA’s.

The two SPCA’s are run by volunteers and a very small paid staff. The Westonaria Muncipality does not support the two SPCAs in anyway whatsoever in the running of the Municipal Pound. All of the funds that they have are from donations and the boarding for the public’s during the holiday seasons.

Phillips would like to thank the wonderful public for all their support and please be assured that the animals in both the Randfontein and Westonaria SPCA Kennels never have had a day and never will have a day without food, thanks to the public’s generosity.
