It’s the Council’s problem

'Why should we be the ones to suffer as our accounts to the municipality are settled every month?'

It is shocking and a tragedy for all residents of Randfontein that Eskom, according to the newspapers, will not be supplying bulk electricity from 5 June to the defaulting municipality of Randfontein, as according to the Act that means the public of Randfontein will be without electricity.

May I point out that since 1929 for about 86 years the municipality should have seen that all creditors have met their obligations due.

Secondly, the major problem concerning potholes is a real nightmare for residents as it is part of service delivery but the approach by the municipality is not solving the problem. The state of the roads worsens day by day and potholes reappear every day, which is dangerous to the public and I hope the municipality has enough insurance to cover the cost for the damages caused to the public’s vehicles.

There is a financial crisis in Randfontein and the guidelines for the yearly budgets are not adhered to.

The attitude of the citizens is ‘why should we be the ones to suffer as our accounts to the municipality are settled every month?’

It is the Council’s problem and they must rectify their mistakes and serve the public as they should be served.
