Municipality doing an excellent job

'Thank you all for persevering, despite all the criticism' — resident.

Every week we hear complaints about the Randfontein Municipality and their shortcomings.

As a resident of Greenhills, I have a different outlook.

When a power cable was stolen, the municipality handled the problem quickly and efficiently and our power was restored the same day.

There was a blocked drain that resulted in raw sewage flowing down my driveway and around the house – the municipality was called and within an hour they arrived and unblocked the drain.

The municipal ground between my house and the road is too big for one person with one mower to cut in less than two full days, so when it gets to an unsightly state, the municipal gang comes with their mowers, weed eaters and small mowers and tidies it up in one morning.

The potholes – everybody’s favourite complaint. In Greenhills there are potholes, but when they get to an unreasonable size, they are filled promptly and do not get into a dangerous state.

Considering the resources and funding available, I think the municipality is doing an excellent job.

I for one have no complaints, and wish to thank the municipality and all its workers who are doing the best they can with very little and their best is quite acceptable.

Well done, keep up the good work, and thank you all for persevering, despite all the criticism.
