Referring to the article Municipality hands over RDP house to ill pensioner. I wish this could happen to every homeless family.
I have a mother receiving a disability grant, still renting rooms in people’s backyards, paying rent with the disability money, at the age of 60.
The story of the Banda family’s struggle moved my heart. There are many African citizens still suffering after 20 years of freedom. I urge the municipality to consider such people first to get a place they can call home.
My mother has been applying for an RDP house for the past 10 years. Still nothing. I wish we also could be considered, especially for my mother’s sake so she can have a place she can call home for the first time. I am pleading with the municipality to give preference or special consideration for such people.
Executive Mayor Sylvia Thebenare says: “Service delivery does not reach everybody at the same time …” Please, please we would like to share the same happiness as others do.
