“We are treated unfairly”: pupils

Pupils of the National Rural Youth Services Corps Programme asked to go home until further notice.

This letter serves to acknowledge some of the challenges facing the National Rural Youth Services Corps Programme – Narysec – pupils based in Randfontein.

We were recruited by the Department of Rural Development under Narysec for the skills development programme.

The contract we signed stipulates that the programme should run for two years (2010 to 2012) but its 2014 already and we don’t have progress reports, certificates and accountability from officials and this worries us.

We were taken to various non-accredited colleges and even to date, we haven’t received any certificates or reports from such colleges.

We were brought to Randfontein recently under the auspices of Renico for further skills training and development.

Narysec Programme Director known to us as Mr Van Staden claims Renico is not accredited but fails to provide us with alternative service providers.

Recently, we were ordered to vacate our premises and go home until further notice. We find this unacceptable because there is no official taking full responsibility for the completion of the skills development programme.

We are not leaving the premises until we are taken to the sites for practical training, exposure and site experience in order to complete the programme.

Currently, there are various infrastructural developments and road constructions taking place in Randfontein where we can be placed. However, that is not happening.
