IDP a fruitless excercise in Finsbury

That meeting was a futile exercise as only a handful of the community attended the meeting and this is because people have lost faith, trust and confidence in the ANC Councillor Ntsepo.

• Tlhoriso Phake from Congress of the People (Cope) writes:

On Saturday 1 May our Ward 2 Councillor Xolisa Ntsepo called a public meeting at Avante Primary School regarding the Integrated Development Plan (IDP).

That meeting was a futile exercise as only a handful of the community attended the meeting and this is because people have lost faith, trust and confidence in the ANC Councillor Ntsepo.

This is his second term in office as the Ward Councillor but he cannot fulfil the needs, aspirations, ideals and wishes of the community.

We have told Ntsepo that we need a tennis court, a volleyball court as well as a netball court for our children but to date, he could not provide that for us.

We also need a community hall where we can conduct community events and activities such as funerals, memorial services and public meetings.

Apart from that, there is a need for primary and high schools in Finsbury because all our children are flocking to Mohlakeng and Randfontein schools.

As a result, parents are forced to pay close to R350 for taxi fares per month for their children’s transport.

This means that parents end up having to pay close to R4 200 per year for school transport, if not more.

Cope is completely worried and concerned about the snail-paced project of the football ground in Finsbury.

This project started four years ago and it cannot be completed because the funds have been squandered.

Perhaps this project will be completed in 2014 because of the usual national election campaign strategy.

I must state that Ntshepo is doing absolutely nothing in Finsbury.

Cope is behind the development in Finsbury regarding the installation of streetlights.

I was one of the many people that sat down with the Director of Electrical Engineering and requested the installation of streetlights at the filthy Finsbury Park.

I also communicated with the Director of Parks in Randfontein and that is why the parks are clean to this day.
