Preschoolers showcase their Olympic talents

Multiple early learning centres gathered to allow learners to partake in the Mini Olympics.

Little ones from various Mohlakeng creches and early learning centres had a whale of a good time recently at the Patrick Ace Ntsoelengoe Stadium.

The children took part in the Mini Olympics in fun games like egg walk and 20-metre relay races.

Repotshepile Mosiane from Queens Kids Creche, Kagoentle Morake from Little Sunshine and Nandile Miya from the Prototype (7) were the winners in one of the relay categories.

“The learners had an opportunity to take part when they participated and represented different countries like Nigeria and Lesotho. It was a hectic and fun-filled day,” said Lesiba Shima, co-ordinator from the Gauteng Department of Sports, Art, Culture and Recreation.

“All that we can say is we are overwhelmed by parents’ attendance, considering the hot weather. It was not only sporting activities but there was also storytelling by the Born to Read Programme and also a programme for expecting mothers who came in numbers,” added the department’s West Corridor Director, Maphata Ramphele.
