Robinson and Rappies keep it healthy

Life Robinson Private Hospital partnered with Laerskool Rapportryer Primary School to offer free health screenings.

Life Robinson Private Hospital, joined by Life Poortview and several allied health services, hosted a health awareness day at Laerskool Rapportryer Primary School on September 6.

The hospital staff offered free health screenings to Rapportryer employees and parents. The screenings included blood pressure, blood glucose (sugar) and cholesterol screenings.

Life Poortview focused on the importance of mental health, providing information about the signs and symptoms of mental health conditions as well as where and who to ask for help.

This is according to marketing and communications co-ordinator Melanie van Staden, who added that the purpose of the day was to encourage regular medical check-ups to identify, prevent or reduce the effects of conditions before they lead to serious health problems.

“This was the first of hopefully many awareness outreaches in partnership with the schools in our community,” Melanie said.

This outreach was important because, as mentioned by Melanie, simple health checks are one of the things people postpone due to their busy lives. Melanie stated it is important to have regular health checks because they help to identify health problems early.
