Podium spot for Jannas’ problem solvers

Hoërskool Jan Viljoen High School managed second place and received a special award at the annual Youth Civil Action Programme.

Hoërskool Jan Viljoen High School’s learners received top honours during the annual Youth Civil Action Programme (YCAP) camp.

According to school spokesperson Charl Ludick, the YCAP camp challenged the students to identify and solve school-based problems. In addition, the teams have been working on their projects since the beginning of the year.

He said Jan Viljoen entered three teams consisting of a Grade Nine team that focused on establishing a Learners Based Support Team, a Grade 10 team that addressed learner safety and a Grade 11 team that worked on improving academic performance.

“Their hard work paid off as they secured second place in the Gauteng West district with one of our members Rethabile Morwe receiving a special award for Best Speaker.

“Well done to all our YCAP participants for their remarkable achievements and dedication to making a positive impact. Your exceptional dedication and hard work have truly paid off. We are incredibly proud of your achievement and the way you represented our school. Well done,” expressed Charl.

“Congratulations to Rethabile for her outstanding performance at the YCAP camp. Being awarded Best Speaker and receiving a special award for her performance are remarkable achievements. Your hard work and dedication have truly shone through. We are incredibly proud of you, Rethabile,” he concluded.
