RSS learners make Rand West City proud in spelling bee contest

The Thandeka Knowledge Hub was represented by six Randfontein Secondary School learners during the South African Spelling Bee Competition.

The Thandeka Knowledge Hub, which represented Rand West City, recently participated in the South African Spelling Bee Competition which was hosted at the IIE MSA Campus, formerly known as Monash South Africa, in Ruimsig.

On May 11, the Thandeka Knowledge Hub was represented by six learners from Randfontein Secondary School (RSS). The participating learners included Khensani Khazamula, Keabetswe Masokoane, Kenny Cutane, Tharin Malinga, Tazmin Rooskrantz, and Lethabo Maphothoma.

The learners were led by educator Jade Kakora and guided by the Spelling Bee Facilitator from Thandeka Knowledge Hub, Thandeka Legae.

Khensani Khazamula was able to make it through to the top five.

“Thank you to principal Gloria Henry, educators, the school governing body, parents, learners, and supporters from RSS,” Thandeka said.

She added that she was grateful to have the opportunity and that she was proud of the learners. She stated that Rand West City Local Municipality was well represented.
