RHS debate team impresses at regionals
Out of 35 teams, RHS' senior A debate team achieved an impressive second place.
Randfontein High School’s debate team came in second at the South African Council of English Education (SACEE) debating league (West Region).
RHS spokesperson Rodney Prins explained that 35 teams were participating in the league. Of all the teams, RHS’ senior A debate team managed an impressive second place. This automatically qualified them for the SACEE provincial championships which is set to take place in May.
He continued to say all the team members were ranked in the Top 20 debaters of the day.
Grade 10 learners Mbali Mchunu and Tiyani Mokoke, both ranked in 14th place, Boitshepo Mkhontwana in Grade 11 ranked eighth while Grade 12 learner Lesego Serobatse ranked in first place. This made him the best speaker in the regional rounds.
