Jannas Gr 8s dubbed ‘the brave’ as school welcomes them with Marvel, DC concert

Jan Viljoen High School's Grade Eight learners held a concert to show that they are ready for 2024.

Hoërskool Jan Viljoen High School officially welcomed their Grade Eights with a concert of heroism.

Jannas teacher and spokesperson Charl Ludick was first to offer a warm welcome to all attendees before learner Amuelle van den Heever (dressed and portrayed as a supervillain Poison Ivy) said a prayer.

Thereafter, Zanté de Lange and Lané Odendaal set the stage with a heroic opening. Groups one and two quickly lined the stage with excitement and showed off their unforgettable dance moves. Afterward, George Nicolakakis (dressed as Spider-Man) and Amuelle welcomed groups three and four to the stage.

The final two groups were called to perform after Hestia Bouwer and Khoai Matete spoke about bravery and heroism. A final performance was then delivered by all of the Grade Eight learners as one.

“The concert emphasised heroism by implementing characters from Marvel and DC. Characters such as Wonder Woman, Batman, and many more could be seen roaming the stage. The concert concluded after the Marvel and DC characters worked together to help bring dedication and bravery to the Grade Eights.”

Charl further stated that the Grade Eights started rehearsals on January 15 and only rehearsed for two days. Even though they had limited time, Charl dubbed the concert a major success.
