All smiles as RCA kick start their academic year

The new grade ones of Randfontein Christian Academy (RCA) attended their first day on January 15.

It was all smiles as Randfontein Christian Academy (RCA) started the academic year with a special assembly on January 15.

RCA principal Dr Chris Ayres first addressed learners and their parents by opening with Luke 18. He then added that children are the most important ‘family members’ and continued with The Lord’s Prayer. He then proceeded by welcoming staff. Thereafter, learners sang worship songs to conclude the assembly.

Kutluano Nkuna, one of the learners who will be starting Grade Seven this year said that she feels very positive about the year. She added that this year will mark her 10th year of attending RCA. As a dux learner, Kutluano said that she would like to finish Grade Seven early so that she can go to the Independent Examination Board. Her biggest challenge this year will be the subject of Afrikaans because she said that it gets difficult each year.

Grade Six learner, Bokang Lebasa said that she is excited for the challenges that this year might bring. Her favourite subject is Mathematics.

The new grade one learners seemed to be very excited for this year. Pakoentle Sithole said that she is very excited to be in grade one. Her favourite part of the school day is playing with her friends.

Luyolo Magala said that he cannot wait to read and do fun stuff as a Grade One learner. He does not believe that being in Grade One will be difficult because he says that if you push yourself to work hard, it will be easy. He is very excited to have new friends this year.

Another Grade One learner, Buhle Nthinya said that it will be difficult because she will start writing. However, she cannot wait to learn more about God.
