Schools challenged to take part in competition for the SPCA

Surrounding schools and the public can also partake.

Laerskool Gerrit Maritz Primary is challenging other schools and the public to take part in their Coin Collection Competition to benefit the SPCA.

Coin Collection Competition organiser, Sonia Eksteen said she truly believes that animals are the real victims on this earth – they didn’t declare war, they don’t have weapons, don’t want to destroy humans, or impose religion. Their only ‘crime’ is that they exist.

RandWest SPCA chairperson Brenda Eloff explained that the SPCA gives a date for when coins can be collected. She added that the schools then come up with how they are going to collect the coins.
“The school that collects the most coins in kilograms will win a trophy and certificate,” said Brenda.

Sonia said, “We at Gerrit Maritz Primary School, therefore, try our very best to support the local SPCA’s initiative to raise money to assist them in caring for animals who don’t have a loving home.”

She added that it’s been a great honour to participate in the SPCA Coin Collection Competition and be the winner for two consecutive years. All for the love of animals.

“We would like to invite the surrounding schools to compete as well. Show us what you’ve got by accepting this challenge! What better way than a little healthy competition to kick start this year’s Coin Collection War?”

They also want to motivate the public to contribute and support your local SPCA.

“They are in dire need of dog food, dog treats, blankets, dog jerseys, dog toys, leashes, poop scoops, Carbadust, tick and flea dip, tick and flea powder, cat food, cat treats, cat toys, cat litter, and cat litter trays.”
