Speaking at the ceremony WRDM Executive Mayor Hullet Hild delivered a keynote address and acknowledged the role that teachers have in the success of the learners.

“It will always be because of our teachers that we are where we are today. There is no one else that will pray for you as hard as your parents and teachers so go out there and become whatever you choose to be and remember, it is a privilege that many others were denied.

“Go become doctors, lawyers, engineers, and whatever your heart desires but please remember us when you are successful.

“Please come and open your law firms and your surgeries or even your companies here in the West Rand. Your task is not only about yourself,” said Hild.

He added that this would be a great way of ensuring job creation and creating a space for not only businesses to succeed but for individuals to thrive as well.

One of the learners who was part of the Matric class of 2022 was also honoured at the ceremony. Photo submitted.

He also said urged the matric class of 2022 to hit the ground running and gun for their dreams.

“Being an adult is no easy task but you will achieve great heights if you view stumbling blocks as opportunities to learn and adapt rather than looking at them as a reason to quit. I trust you celebrated your victory and enjoyed yourselves. Now is the time to focus.

“Bear in mind that time is limited and you must find a balance between relaxation and study time and make yourself, as well as your parents and your teachers proud,” said Hild.

He also moved on to recognise those present and gave them a trophy for their good work.
