Laerskool Gerrit Maritz Primary appoints new deputy principal

Lizé Jansen was recently appointed as the second deputy principal of the school.

Lizé Jansen has been appointed as second deputy principal of Laerskool Gerrit Maritz Primary. She is a lady of many talents, she ran her third Comrades marathon in August this year and no obstacle is too big for her to overcome.

School spokesperson Verna Kruger said everyone who knows Jansen is certain of one thing – she runs a tight ship.

“Lizé is originally from Vereeniging, moved to Westonaria in 2004 and has since made waves. She and her husband, Bernie Jansen, who is the pastor of the PPK Church in Westonaria, are well-known. She got involved at Gerrit Maritz Primary when her two sons were enrolled at the school.”

Kruger added that Jansen was appointed as Grade R educator in 2009 and after completing her studies in BTH Theology and an NGOS qualification, she got to live out her passion as a Grade 1 educator.

In 2018 she was promoted to Foundation Phase Departmental Head. Always striving to achieve more she grabbed the opportunity to become Deputy Principal with both hands.

“Mentorship and staff development are very important to me. I believe that a team must be so strong that it is difficult to see who the leader is. My vision for the school is to promote versatility and transformation of thoughts.

I would like to, with the School Management Team and educators’ cooperation, create a safe and successful learning environment to provide the best-quality teaching and learning possible – despite all the obstacles our education system is currently facing,” said Jansen.
