GDE spokesperson Steve Mabona said the GDE Online Admissions System has proven to have functioned seamlessly with minimal challenges as a large number of parents and guardians have been able to apply without any major difficulties.

The 2023 Online Admissions application period for Grade 1 and 8 will close at midnight on August 19, 2022 Only 14 days remain before the System closes to mark the end of the application period. To apply, parents and guardians must visit www.gdeadmissions.gov.za and register to create unique login credentials for their application profile.

We urge all parents to either upload the documents onto the Online Admissions System when applying, or submit certified copies of the required documentation to the schools they applied to. Applicants who opted to upload onto the System must not submit their documents at the schools they applied to,” said Steve.

He added, We encourage applicants who require assistance with applying or have any application related enquiries to contact our call centre on 0800 000 789 or WhatsApp us on 060 891 0361. Applicants who may not have internet access or the resources required to apply can visit their nearest district office or our Decentralised Walk-In Centres to be assisted.

“The Online Admissions System keeps improving and processing a large number of applications each year, and we’re very proud of that. The existence of this System has saved many parents a lot of time and resources required when applying for their children. In the past, parents needed to travel and wait long queues at schools to apply. Now, with the Online Admissions System, parents merely use their smartphone or computer wherever they are to apply for their children in under 20 minutes,” concluded Gauteng Education MEC, Panyaza Lesufi.
