Woman’s body found at substation in Culemborg Park

The body of a woman found at a substation in Culemborg Park attracted a large crowd of onlookers this morning.

Police have opened an inquest after a woman’s body was found at the Van Der Stel Substation in Culemborg Park this morning, November 5.

Crowds of onlookers gathered, however, police were quick to cordon off the area as an official crime scene.

The woman was found next to the Van Der Stel Substation.

Randfontein Police Station Commander Colonel Hazel Makhafola was not immediately available for comment, however, the Randfontein Herald was informed on the scene by police that the body is that of a white woman expected to be between the ages of 40 and 45. To add, residents living in a nearby townhouse noticed the body and reported it to the police.

Forensic Pathology Services arrives on scene to collect the body.

“She was already declared dead when we arrived. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, however, forensic pathology services took the body to the Roodepoort mortuary for further investigation,” a police officer said on the scene.

Mapogo A Mathamaga’s operations manager Mac van Zyl also confirmed the body is indeed that of a woman.
