Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary the proud owner of kittens and their moms

The sanctuary needs the community's help with food and donations to care for the new babies.

Cast Aways Animal Sanctuary is the proud owner of several new intakes, including two-week-old kittens.

Louisa Rossouw, founder of the sanctuary, explained they first took in a ginger and a tabby cat who both had kittens. The tabby cat is one of the ginger cat’s litter. Both were found in the yard of a residence in Krugersdorp West.

“It took me a whole week to catch the ginger mom. She is smart and took good care of herself and the tabby’s mom,” said Louisa.

The ginger cat gave birth on September 15 and the tabby cat had her litter the very next day, so the ginger mom is a grandmother as well, Louisa laughed.

The kittens will be up for adoption when they are six weeks old.

The sanctuary needs help with good food for the new intakes including Royal Canin Mother and Baby pellets and mousse. They also need donations for the two cats’ sterilisations and vaccinations for the bunch.

On October 1, the sanctuary’s family grew with the intake of two more kittens, found in Kagiso and Azaadville respectively. One is a Calico kitten with an eye infection and is currently at the vet receiving treatment. The other kitten is a bottle kitten and is currently in foster care.
