Beauty influencer speaks about women

With the focus on National Women's Day and Women's Month, the Herald spoke to one of Randfontein's most inspirational women, Janine van Loggerenberg.

Model, mother, daughter, business owner as well as financial and HR manager Janine van Loggerenberg is a queen of all trades.

Janine stated she has always had a passion for beauty and well-being. After completing her matric, she studied beauty therapy and gained experience in the industry. In 2020 she bought and opened her make-up school. After that, she eventually opened her salon.

“I have a great love for women and helping them feel good about themselves. The beauty industry allows me to live that passion every day. It goes hand-in-hand with my beauty pageants. Since I also have a daughter, I always want to be in line with the latest trends,” Janine said.

Janine desires to create a platform for every woman she comes in contact with, helping them to be the best versions of themselves.

According to her, National Women’s Day is important because every year once a day women fill each other’s glasses. She added that on Women’s Day, women lift each other, laugh together, cry together and pray together.

She further emphasised that the day is important because of women’s role in life. She noted that without women, families would fall apart.

“It is so important to me that I celebrate Women’s Day so that my daughter can carry on with the tradition. It takes a village, you know. Every year this village celebrates its women and that is priceless,” she expressed.

Empathy, adaptability and a strong sense of community are what Janine believes makes a woman important. She added that women can overcome challenges that make them unique.

This year she will be celebrating women by booking a function with someone she described as close to her heart.

“Yolande Britnell-Steyn is an amazing speaker and author. She is the owner of the Facebook page Sit aan die ketel. We will be about 200 women spending the day with her and celebrating Women’s Day,” she told the Randfontein Herald.

She stated women can celebrate the day by doing the things they love, such as drinking a coffee with friends, watching their favourite TV programmes, enjoying window shopping, or even having a manicure and hair-do.

Not only does she believe it is important to celebrate the day, but she believes there are reasons for celebrating it.

“Our biggest challenge is finding a balance between family, friends and work. We want to satisfy everyone. We want to be the best mother, we want to be the best at our work and we also want to look beautiful and go on a date with our partner. It is very difficult to find that balance and therefore we sometimes lose ourselves,” she said.

Even though Janine has been struggling with these challenges, she finds refuge in the thought that she is a woman.

“I am proud to be a woman. It comes with its challenges and joys. I appreciate the strength and resilience it takes to be a woman. Women make everything in life so much more prettier and colourful. My grandmother always said that you can see a woman has been in the house when there are fresh flowers, baked cookies and clean linen,” she expressed.

“If I can give a bit of advice: Be like Hannah in the Bible. A prayer, a woman who trusts in God, who waits patiently. Imagine a town’s women who pray like Hannah,” she concluded.
