Activist’s burial a sad day for many

Big funeral service in Mohlakeng for late community and political activist who was murdered.

Mohlakeng community members came in large numbers to the burial of political and community activist Mpho Sebone who was murdered by unknown assailants.

He was buried on July 13 at the Mohlakeng Cemetery and his funeral was attended by political parties across the spectrum with many dressed in their various party regalia.

Among those who attended included ward councillor Patty Tlholoe from the ANC and Bethuel Monyai from the EFF who is also West Rand District Municipal Council speaker.

Once again gun shots and revolutionary struggle songs dominated proceedings to celebrate Sebone’s life.

Sebone in his lifetime cut across several political parties from Azapo, PAC and the Independent Democrats. He passed away as an EFF member.

“He was not only a political activist but he was involved in many community activities as an auxiliary nurse at Mohau Hospice, a community patroller and also a noted chorister,” said Monyai.
