Madiba inspires Wings of Inspiration elderly

There was lots of giving and dancing at Wings of Inspirations Elderly Care Centre on Mandela Day.

On Mandela Day, many reached out to organisations in need to help them for 67 minutes.
Wings of Inspiration’s Elderly Care Centre joined hands with various organisations to give their residents a Mandela Day to remember.

Kirsten Richardson, one of the founders of the centre explained Checkers Tambotie Mall and Credit Guarantee reached out to them.

“Their compassion and willingness to help have profoundly impacted the Wings family. Whether it was offering a listening ear, providing practical support, or simply showing understanding and empathy, their gestures reminded us of people’s inherent goodness. These individuals have not only eased our burdens but also restored our faith in humanity, showing us that small acts of kindness can make a significant difference in someone’s life,” said Kirsten.

Lucas Myburgh and Nicky Solms.

Credit Guarantee sponsored 170 blankets, beanies, scarves, and lunch and desserts for 150 people. Checkers sponsored fruit, chocolates, soup, bread and platters for the elderly’s dinner.

“The Wings family would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has supported South Africa on Mandela Day. Your encouragement, guidance, and unwavering belief in Wings of Inspiration have been invaluable. Whether it was through words of wisdom, dancing, modelling, laughing, or simply being there when Wings needed it most. As Wings of Inspiration, we are deeply grateful for their kindness and generosity, the residents will cherish those moments forever.”

Fritz Crauss.

She explained to them Mandela Day holds great significance to commemorate the life and legacy of a leader ‘who championed equality, justice and compassion’.

“For those facing challenges such as poverty, discrimination or lack of opportunities, Nelson Mandela Day serves as a beacon of hope and solidarity.”

Kirsten noted as Margaret Mead once said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.”

Kyle Heath and Andy Berry.

For them, the help offered by others whether it’s helping others directly or inspiring others can leave a lasting impact on others and help build a brighter future.

“As the Wings family our residences are grateful for everything they received and appreciate every moment of the day’s success,” said Kirsten.
