Severely emaciated dog found in Azaadville

Angel the dog's life hangs in the balance after she was found in a really bad condition.

Angel the dog who has been rescued by No More Tears Animal Rescue is suffering from multiple and serious conditions affecting its health.

After Laerskool Azaadville learners saw Angel roaming around, a teacher contacted No More Tears. It was then that one of the directors, Riana Cronje, left work to rescue Angel.

According to Cronje, they put Angel on the tennis court and closed it off, keeping Angel safe until help arrived. When Cronje arrived she realised that Angel was in a really bad condition.

Cronje suspects Angel to be a mixed breed between one to two years old.

“She had advanced mange and multiple sores covering her body. She was extremely emaciated. Even though she was in so much pain she never once tried to run away, bite or growl,” Cronje claimed.

They bathed Angel, attempting to scrape off the mange while also nursing the wounds on her body. Cronje confirmed that Angel will be on antibiotics for a few weeks while receiving medical baths.

“It will be a long road to full recovery,” Cronje said.

Angel is currently recovering at Homestead Veterinary Hospital. Those willing to contribute can contact No More Tears on 084 433 7748 or email them at info@nomoretears.org.za.
