Two injured in crash at intersection during power outage

Two people were transported to hospital following a serious crash between a light motor vehicle and a large passenger vehicle at the notorious intersection in Homelake.

A collision took place at the intersection of Homestead Avenue and Kenneth Road on Monday, July 8, afternoon which led to multiple injuries.

At around 13:00, a VW Combi collided with a BMW during a power outage which also affected the notorious intersection.

The injured were taken to hospital for treatment.

The Randfontein Herald was informed on the scene that the driver of the BMW was driving along Kenneth Road when the driver of the Combi, travelling on Homestead Avenue, collided with its right side.

Both the driver and passenger of the BMW had to be transported to hospital, however, it is unclear at this stage if anyone from the Combi sustained injuries.

An eyewitness also told the Herald on the scene that the crash happened in the blink of an eye.

Both vehicles had to be towed.
