RandWest SPCA looking for committee members

The SPCA is looking for any person interested in joining the team voluntarily to ensure the needs of the SPCA are met and policies are upheld.

The RandWest SPCA is asking for any community members who would be willing to join their committee.

Brenda Eloff, chairperson for the SPCA explained they are in dire need of committee members for Krugersdorp, Westonaria and Randfontein.

Committee members are responsible for fundraising and upholding the rules and policies in society.

“As the staff needs to carry out their functions to prevent animal cruelty, they need a team behind them who supports and equips them with what they need,” said Brenda.

Committee members are actively involved in projects to raise funds, sustain a positive image and keep up public relationships, benefitting society. They would have to attend meetings and ensure year-end requirements are met. Further, they would have to ensure the rules and policies of the NSPCA are upheld and most importantly promote animal welfare to the highest standards.

All these are done voluntarily, a committee member is not employed by the SPCA and will be required to spend their own time towards this work.

“It will be advised to spend some time in the kennels, office, and with staff members whenever comfortable.”

Further members will be part of a democratic structure and all decisions are made through voting and consensus. The committee consists of a chairperson, vice chairperson, treasurer, and committee members, all of who will be voted in.

The SPCA will be hosting an annual general meeting on July 20 at 10:00 where residents can find out all the requirements of a committee member.
