A fire broke out at a cooking oil factory early on Saturday – the exact extent of the damage is unknown at this stage.

A massive fire broke out at a cooking oil factory along Homestead Avenue in Randfontein early Saturday morning, June 29.

It’s not clear what caused the inferno that engulfed parts of the factory and the exact extent of the damage is unknown. However, photographs taken show parts of the factory sustained significant damage.

The Herald contacted the company and fire department but is yet to issue an official statement. Their feedback will be published once received. Security on the premises were also approached, but did not want to comment.
