Dog faces ear amputation after attack

After being attacked by other dogs, No More Tears Animal Rescue is asking for the community's help to pay for his vet bills.

No More Tears Animal Rescue is asking for the community’s help with the care of a dog that was involved in an attack with pit bulls.

Stephan Hendriks, founder and director of the rescue centre, explained the dog attack occurred on June 23.

He explained the owner tried to care for her pet herself, however on June 27 she contacted No More Tears after realising the dog was not getting better and needed to be taken to the vet. The owner, however, needed help with the vet bills.

The dog is currently at a Homestead vet under treatment.

Hendricks noted the dog would have to stay at the vet for a while since some of the tissue in its ear had started to rot. He mentioned they are going to try and treat the ear, before having to decide to amputate.

“It would be a long road of recovery, if his ear would have to be amputated it would need regular aftercare,” stated Stephan.

Any person who would like to donate can contact Stephan on 084 433 7748.
