NGO marches against child abuse

Sebueng Itumeleng hosted an outreach where they marched to promote awareness about child abuse.

Sebueng Itumeleng, a non-profit organisation, hosted an outreach for orphaned and vulnerable children to spread awareness about abuse.

On May 31, the organisation hosted a marching event to promote the safety of children.

According to project manager Sebueng Sarah Segopolo, the event went miraculously well. She added that it started with a march through the neighbourhood of Simunye.

“We want to assure the protection of not only orphaned and vulnerable children, but all children. We know that children are most likely to be victims of abuse and therefore we wanted to spread awareness,” Segopolo said.

The organisation’s main motivation for hosting this outreach was due to the circumstances they currently live in. Segololo stated that they live in an area where multiple residents become victims of abuse. She also said that they experience it once they engage with the residents as part of their day-to-day work.

“It is within our capabilities to achieve what is always in the best interest of our children to feel safe and secure at all times. We need to promote safety and ensure our children are more educated about their safety through awareness campaigns of this nature,” Segopolo claimed.

The organisation plans to host more events in the future to make children aware of the safety it offers.
