Taking good care of people who took great care of us — HOPE Community Outreach

The HOPE Community Outreach Programme has been launched to feed the elderly communities.

The HOPE Community Outreach Programme continues to feed the elderly in Mohlakeng and inspire many to reach out along the way.

Founder Nomalungelo Matsele stated that they try not to serve the same meals and their menus vary. She added that their goal is to prepare exciting meals that the elderly do not eat often. Their most recent outreach included a meal of hotdogs and virgin cocktails.

“We regularly try to engage with the elderly community. We also try introducing different activities such as spa evenings, movie dates, and church gatherings,” Nomalungelo said.

She expressed that their latest outreach was very successful and she added that the elderly even brought gifts to thank them.

“This is our first three months of introducing this specific initiative in the West Rand. We were only doing it in a village called Maboloka,” she explained.

Before feeding the elderly communities, Nomalungelo was also part of the Matric Dance Initiative where they helped underprivileged matriculants to prepare for their dances, along with a skills programme where they teach unemployed residents to do makeup.
