Stray dog rescued

Midnight is finally off the streets and in safe hands after being rescued by No More Tears Animal Rescue.

A stray dog found wandering in bad condition has been rescued.

Stephan Hendricks founder and director of No More Tears Animal Rescue explained numerous residents spotted Midnight running around in the streets of Greenhills, however, they could not get close to him.

He claims they even put food and water out for him, but he wouldn’t touch it. Stephan further noted that residents informed them when they spotted Midnight, but every time they arrived at the place, he was already gone.

On March 12, they had to decide to dart him to get him off the streets. He was taken to the Randfontein Animal Hospital where he was neutered and treated.

Stephan mentioned he is doing well now and was released from the hospital on March 19. He is currently staying with a resident who believes it is his missing dog from about two years ago.

How exactly Midnight ended up as a stray dog is unknown but Stephan did note he was in a really poor condition when he was found.

“The poor dog walked a difficult road,” said Stephan.

He appealed to the public to please help them with donations to cover the vet bills. He noted anyone who wants to donate can visit their website at www.nomoretears.org.za or make a donation directly to the animal hospital.

“I am so glad we decided to catch Midnight and get him off the streets,” said Stephan.

He concluded by saying people should take their animals to a rescue centre if they do not want them anymore, instead of simply dumping or abandoning them. He noted even though many rescue centres are full, it is a much better option for the animals than being left behind.
