Artist shares his passion for music

Growing up with music, Fish'odlamanzi is now hoping to inspire future artists.

Westonaria artist Thobelani Gina, better known as Fish’odlamanzi, lives and breathes music.

In 2003, he began recording his music professionally and has since shared the stage with other popular artists.

He explained he grew up with a love of music, especially traditional Zulu music and looked up to the legendary and famous South African Maskandi musician, Ihashi Elimhlophe as his role model.

Growing up in Hluhluwe, KZN, Thobelani started playing music at an early age. He used to take part in arts and cultural activities in school, including singing and dancing. After moving to the West Rand, specifically Westonaria in 2002.

Thobelani especially loved the message he conveyed of music being able to heal, teach and spread love. The message he wants to deliver with his music is similar to this. He wants people to receive the message of love, respect, appreciation and protecting one another.

“I would encourage others to also make music so that we spread the unit of love and keep on blessing people with music. Music is part of our culture, it must live on,” added Thobelani.

About his plans, he said, “I hope to create more musical groups and nurture other artists or promote more artists.”
