NPO in Mohlakeng changes lives

The Leano Foundation had a successful 2023 and plans to make this year an even bigger success.

The Leano Foundation made 2023 a great year for those in straitened circumstances and the organisation has even bigger plans for this year.

The Leano Foundation is an NPO established in May 2017. Founder and director Mapule Ratsoeu has led many projects to help young girls and boys who struggle with social and financial challenges.

Along with awareness campaigns, the organisation also collects a variety of donations ranging from toiletries, school uniforms, and clothes.

The foundation visits underprivileged schools to raise awareness of adolescent pregnancy, substance abuse, and bullying. The organisation does monthly programmes to raise funds that allow them to continue their non-profit deeds in and around Mohlakeng.

In 2023, the foundation changed many lives.

The NPO also assisted a learner for her matric dance.

In January last year, the organisation received over 60 donations of sanitary products to gift to disadvantaged women residing in Mohlakeng. In March the organisation gave clothes to the community in Zenzele and in June they held a soup kitchen in Mohlakeng Ext 11. They held another soup kitchen in July at the Mohlakeng Hostel. On International Women’s Day, they arranged a colour run for women at Hulumeni Lifestyle.

This year the organisation will be planning multiple soup kitchens for the upcoming winter season, programmes to financially support two learners for their matric dance, and another fun event for International Women’s Day among much more.
