A call from CPF to help fight crime

The Community Police Forum urges community members to partake in stopping crime and to assist in weekly patrols.

The Community Police Forum (CPF) has appealed to the Randfontein community for assistance.

The CPF has recently been climbing a steep hill with a lack of participants. Since many members decided to walk away from the CPF in 2023, the community structure has been struggling to perform duties actively due to a shortage of members and patrol officers.

Chairperson of the CPF, Paul Diutlwileng appeals to the public to join the CPF in their projects to stop crime and to be more active in the CPF community groups. According to Diutlwileng, the four sectors of the CPF are in dire need of patrollers. Diutlwileng states that if community members join the CPF, they only need to spend two hours of the week to patrol residential areas. Residents are also urged to report any suspicious activity to assist CPF officers.

Diutlwileng further emphasised the importance of working hand-in-hand with community members. If the CPF does not have enough members, it will put strain on the remaining patrol officers. As mentioned by Diutlwileng, the community currently has an overabundance of cable theft and home invasions. If the shortage continues, Diutlwileng fears that the crime rate may rise substantially.

The CPF has arranged for a meeting with the four sectors and the community to elect sector community members and recruit patrol officers. For more information regarding the sector meetings, contact Diutlwileng on 079 117 1084.
