Bikers rally for less fortunate back to school learners

Over 100 bikers throughout the West Rand came together at Cowboy Town to donate stationery for less fortunate learners.

With the school holidays done and dusted, the biggest worry for many parents is to get their children back to school ready.

While it might be smooth sailing in some households, the same cannot be said in others as many children are less fortunate and their parents are unable to afford stationery, even school uniforms. However, on January 13 more than 100 bikers from across the West Rand got together to bring some relief to such parents and their kids by donating at Cowboy Town.

Thanks to the West Rand Bikers Association and The Bethany House Trust, their charity run saw a large donation of basic school stationery ranging from backpacks, glue, and pencils for various schools on the West Rand.

According to Cowboy Town manager Ben David, there were at least 15 biker groups involved who contributed to the cause.

“Most of the bikers are based in the West Rand, however, we did have a few who came from other districts such as the East Rand to ensure that youngsters can go to school and enjoy their first day,” Ben said.
