The votes are in and the winners of last year’s Christmas Lights Competition hosted by the Randfontein Publicity Association (RPA) have been announced.

The annual Christmas Lights Competition is all an effort to lift the spirit of residents and have them take part in an activity that will have the town glowing. Homeowners, churches, and even old age homes were urged to decorate their premises with Christmas lights to get in the spirit of the festive season.

The RPA issued a statement saying that the 2023 version was a huge success.

“This has been one of the biggest years with a lot of participants. Everything was fun and we also shared other happenings like the Christmas truck and bicycle riders to our page and WhatsApp groups to create awareness. We tried to get everyone excited about Christmas and it worked because a lot of people said this Christmas was truly amazing, to say the least. A lot of the houses had gorgeous decorations and this made it difficult for our panel of judges to make their decision. They honestly wished they could have named more winners,” the statement read.

The RPA also said they are thankful for everyone who participated in the competition and added that they are excited about this year’s Christmas.

Although the winners have been announced, an official handover is to take place sometime next week.
