New journalist joins Herald family

Meet the newest addition to the Randfontein Herald.

Hey there Randfontein!

My name is Dominique Duvenhage and I recently joined the Herald team as a journalist. I am 19 years old and secretly dream of becoming a second Vincent van Gogh. Although being able to follow this career path seems like somewhat of a dream come true already. From a young age, I developed a great fascination with words and language. At the age of 12, I started writing novels and thereafter I eventually began to write poems.

My first chapter as a journalist started when I moved from Kempton Park to Randfontein. I walked into the Caxton Joburg West office with a layer of cold sweat, hoping that things would turn out okay. It turned out great! I was welcomed with open arms and my adventure as a journalist started.

The love I have for animals is one of the many reasons I dreamt of becoming a journalist. Journalism allows me to become a voice for the voiceless and to make a difference when it seems impossible.

Being a journalist is not a job for me, it is a career. As your community journalist, I have taken a pledge to write truthfully and reliably. I am honoured to have the community as my readers and I am honoured to tell your story.

Now I can say that I am a part of the Herald family.
