Breaking barriers is what Ty does best

Ty Richardson defies the norm of what 11-year-olds can achieve. The young model now has aspirations to become a future Springbok.

Ty Richardson (11) is considered a prodigy in both sports, particularly in rugby, as well as on the runway.

Ty’s mother, Kirsten Richardson claimed that Ty is breaking stereotypes and proving that a young boy can excel in both the physical rigor of sports and the artistic finesse of modeling. In his own words, Ty introduces himself, saying, “My name is Ty Richardson. I am 11 years old and I am from Randfontein. I see myself playing rugby for the Springboks one day.”

Ty regularly attends model classes at Vogue Models in Randfontein. Ty explained that he started his adventure in modeling to prove that a man can master the skills of physical fitness along with the skills of walking the runway. David Gandhi, a globally influential model, has inspired Ty to embark on a modeling journey.

“I enjoy showing who I am through poses and different ways to express myself through photography modeling,” he stated.

As mentioned, he enjoys meeting new people and the everlasting support he receives in the modeling community. Kirsten added that the support within the modeling community is of great importance seeing as he has a lot on his plate. He constantly manages a demanding schedule, balancing school, rugby, and modeling.

Ty attributes much of his success to his mother since she influenced Ty to reach for his goals.

Ty has managed to achieve great success within the modeling industry. His achievements include winning the title of Royalty Star ZA Mr Jnr 1st Prince, Mr Jnr Philanthropist, Mr Jnr Public Choice 2023, Mr Jnr Charity, Golden Heart Award, Oxygen Models 2023 King Jnr Finalist, Oxygen Models Debutant, Infinity Pageants Mr Jnr Randfontein and Royal World 2023 – South Africa Mr Teen.

Not only did Ty excel on the runway, but he also used his talents on the sports field. Ty has received the following: Best Rugby Player in the Krugersdorp Harlequins 2023, Best Team 2023 in the Krugersdorp Harlequins, captain of the U11 Monument Primary School team, and Charity Ambassador 2023 of the Wings of Inspiration Elderly Care Centre.

He says that Cheslin Kolbe is his role model when it comes to rugby.

Ty does not only play rugby. He also plays cricket and competes in boxing tournaments.

“I feel I am awesome because I can balance my goals while having fun. Instead of running ahead of my teammates, I’d rather walk beside them,” Ty said.

“Watch out for Ty, a rising star who is rewriting the narrative of what an 11-year-old can achieve. A mother’s wish is always to see their child succeed, his motivation to strive to become someone gives me peace, joy and happiness that he is learning at such a young age to create a future for himself,” Kirsten said.
