MEC to visit Bekkersdal for substance abuse campaign

The event forms part of the department's ongoing fight against drug and substance abuse in the region.

The Gauteng Department of Social Development MEC Mbali Hlophe is expected to visit Bekkersdal today (November 17) in a substance abuse awareness campaign.

This will be at the Bekkersdal taxi rank and the event will start at 10:00.

According to a statement released by the department, the event forms part of its ongoing fight against drug and substance abuse in the region.

“The ‘Ke Moja – I’m fine without drugs’ campaign seeks to raise awareness on the dangers of substance abuse within communities. We will also be outlining programmes offered by the Department and our partnering NPOs in the fight against this scourge,” read the statement.
