Event highlighting premature births to be held at local hospital

The event is set to be an informative session that will unpack everything about giving birth to premature babies.

Lenmed Randfontein Private Hospital will be hosting a premature babies day on November 17 where health officials will be speaking on the occurrence of giving birth prematurely.

The event will be at the hospital and starts at 10:00 and will continue until noon.

The hospital’s client liaison officer Tsholofelo Radebe said the event is set to be an informative session that will empower parents.

“The event is really about educating people regarding premature births. We have a paediatrician who will be talking to the mothers and we also have an audio and speech therapist, as well as social workers. We are expecting mothers and their babies to be at the event and we have also invited all the mothers who have given birth in this hospital and the premature patients.

“This will just be a day of support and encouragement and addressing the challenges that come with giving birth, as well as empowering and educating the mothers on how to deal with premature babies.

“We also want to reassure them that they are not alone. We want to give them a sense of community and a sense of celebration because, at the end of it all, the babies did make it,” Radebe said.
