Cancer awareness walk held in Simunye

The purpose was to educate people about breast cancer and remember those who have lost their battle to the disease.

Rand West City Libraries hosted a walk and talk session to raise awareness of breast cancer in Simunye.

According to the Programmes Librarian at Rand West City Libraries, Thandeka Legae, the event yielded fruitful results, and scores of people supported the cause.

“We launched the event for the very first time in October 2018 and it has since been hosted annually. The programme was aimed at creating awareness of breast cancer and celebrating with the survivors of the disease.

The main purpose was to also encourage and educate the community about the risk factors of breast cancer and how to live a healthy lifestyle.

“We also had a moment of silence to remember the loved ones who lost the battle against cancer,” said Thandeka.
