Soup kitchen to host fundraising event

There will be entertainment and special guest appearances namely former Springbok hooker James Dalton among others.

The Middelvlei Soup Kitchen is hosting a fundraising event at Laerskool Randfontein on October 28.

This will be to raise funds for the soup kitchen, which will allow it to continue with its work of feeding those less fortunate.

The Randfontein Herald spoke to the soup kitchen’s event planner Kleina Erasmus who said although the tickets are for sale for R60, the event is for a good cause.

“Our soup kitchen is responsible for feeding people in and around Middelvlei and we are currently out of stock. We then thought that it would be great for us to receive the cash injection through ticket sales, as this will allow us to continue doing the work that we do,” said Kleina.

She added that there will be entertainment from musical artist Hennie de Bruyn and others and in true rugby spirit to coincide with the Rugby World Cup, the event will also see former Springbok rugby player James Dalton in attendance.

Those who purchase the tickets will stand a chance of winning a four-night self-catering vacation for six people at the Eagles Inn in Richards Bay.

There will also be a car show and a water park to entertain the crowd among other activities.
