Resident not giving up on his dream of being an author

The 48-year-old is also a scriptwriter and is not letting his age get in between him and his dreams.

Resident Monapule Kgopa is asking for residents and businesses alike in the literature space or film industry to help him realise his dreams of becoming a published author or recognised scriptwriter.

This comes as he’s been putting his pen to paper for decades without any luck of some sort of a breakthrough in the industry.

He says this is because he originates from the rural areas and isn’t exposed to the correct channels to follow, to have his work well known.

Be that as it may, the 48-year-old is not letting his age get in between him and his dream.

Speaking to the Randfontein Herald in an interview, Monapule said writing is his true passion and would like to have his dreams come true on one of the good days.

“My love for writing started back when I was in high school and that’s my true passion. Much of my work is in Sepedi but the content is just as good and I believe that if given the chance, I can make a meaningful contribution to the fraternity.

“As it stands, I have written two novels and eight short stories, that I can always extend should the need arise. I also have other work that I’ve done over the years and my ultimate dream is to have my work published or used in popular drama series or even in soapies.

“It’s been a long time coming and although I may be old, I still believe in myself and I am confident in the work I can bring to the table,” said Monapule.

He added that although much of his writing is strictly in the Sepedi language, he is confident that there is space for his work in the industry and that once published or aired, it will certainly blow up.
