Speaking to the Randfontein Herald in an interview, acting sheriff in Westonaria Rudi Vermeulen said that they had a joyous day with people from the safe haven.

“The event was initiated by the chairperson of the board and acting judge at the North West High Court Advocate Mark Morgan, who suggested that sheriffs should give back to the community. We heeded the call and visited the safe haven where we distributed packs and gave out some food.

“The packs included hygiene items for both adults and children and our efforts were truly welcomed on the day.

“We also bought a geyser for the shelter, as theirs was already damaged,” said Vermeulen who added that other items were also donated to the shelter such as gardening implements.

The founder of the shelter, Mpule Phejane said they were thrilled about the visit.

“We were very happy to have had such a visit and everything went well on the day. We truly appreciate the support and it was just a nice day overall,” said Phejane.
